K'NEX Classics Transport Chopper

K'NEX Classics Transport Chopper

CUSTOMER REVIEW

My 8 year old got this for Christmas and we put it together(mostly him) a few days ago! He had a lot of fun building this from scratch and the directions were relatively easy to follow! There were a few spots where I had to look really closely at the pictures and help but he did a great job on his own! These K'Nex pieces are the classic larger sized ones and the box contained 342 K'Nex pieces. The pieces were a little bit hard to snap together at first but once he learned to align them properly, they snapped together just fine. They are more durable than the litle tiny K'Nex pieces. But they are still pieces connected so it's not meant for hardcore toddler play or anything. My 8 year old did just fine with it! The chopper has a working motor and he was absolutely thrilled(as was his 3 year old brother) when it was done and he turned it on and the propeller started to spin(propeller spins in either direction)! My 3 year old actually brought his big brother a little action figure to sit in the cockpit! This set combined with the other K'Nex classic truck with working lights set, makes another vehicle! We have both sets but haven't tried the truck one out yet! Overall my son had a lot of fun putting it together as one of his projects and playing with it afterwards.

First let me clarify that I am 22 and a college student. I use this blaster to play Humans vs. Zombies.

I bought this over the weekend and finally had a chance to use it in anger on Sunday, and I must say it is awesome. There are a few draw backs, but overall its a really good gun.

Pros:

Size and weight are good, very easy to maneuver and potentially dual wield

Rate of fire is incredible: the darts come out as fast as you pull the trigger

Add-ons: There are 2 accessory rails. I use mine with the Stampede foregrip on the accessory rail on the bottom, and use the raider stock. Not only does this increase the effectiveness of the weapon, it looks cool as hell. There is also a barrel attachment.

Looks: bad ass

Cons:

Backward compatibility: Some modifications need to be done to use any other clips that are not the new elite straight ones. The 25 round drum from the Rampage works OK with this, but there are still issues. To redeem this issue, though, all you have to do is open it up and take out the clip sensor. Because its calibrated to the higher spring tension of the new clips, it has trouble registering a dart in the chamber when using the old clips, and will jam.

Noise: Not really too much of an issue, but when I'm trying to sneak up behind someone, revving the motor in this thing is a dead give away.

Conclusion: Its a better stampede with the size and weight of a recon

Perfect size for the beach or sandbox (not too big, not too small). I got the three pack since kids are always fighting for these at the playground but turns out they only really want what the other kids have. Oh well.

My daughter got this as a gift and although she loves it, the clothes are very cheaply made. She has only had it for 3 days and the elastic on the skirt is half torn off from the fabric (still wearable, but I'm sure it will completely separate by the end of the week), and the Velcro closure on the cape has ripped off on one side so I had to do a little repair to make it usable again. My daughter does not play rough with her toys so I'm very disappointed in the quality. As another reviewer stated the top part of her dress is painted on, which is actually a plus for me since I won't worry about it falling apart and her boots and crown can be taken off so be careful if you have younger children.

CUSTOMER REVIEW

The best point in favour of this product is that it is lego style toy that does not intimidate a child with intricate electronic components. My 6-1/2 year old daughter started playing with it and was very excited to have completed her first project to light a bulb with a switch. Theories of electricity followed naturally when initially the bulb did not lightup. I showed her the shiny metal strip beneath the connectors and explained conductivity a little.

Another major advantage is that there are mostly no wires, and the components are hidden from view, giving it a very un-complicated look that a child can easily comprehend. This difference makes possible for my daughter to actually play with it.

The only problem seems to be the quality of plastic used. It looks as if it might break if a component was bent while snapping in. Still, I highly recommend this product.

This was a gift for my friends 6-year old son. He loves it, and uses it as his pillow each night. I had not heard of these before, but my friend said this is one thing her son wanted for his birthday. So I can't say whether it is the real deal, but in the end does it really matter? It's not about a name brand, all that matters is that the product is well made and is enjoyed by the recipient, right? The fabric is super soft, the hook and loop closure works great, and it's just an overall great product. I would definitely buy this product again.

CUSTOMER REVIEW

I got this for my daughter, who is almost 15 months; a bit under the recommended age, but we supervise her with everything. She LOVES this toy, and it makes us laugh. Three settings: acoustic, electric, and "howl", and boy, do we howl with laughter at the funny little songs it plays. It has a little bone-shaped whammy bar that plays a pre-recorded guitar bit. The strap has a velcro bit so you can open it (she was trying to put it around her neck, but I worried about her choking), and there are so many songs, not just the funny little dog parody songs, but instrumental ditties using acoustic, electric, and howl. True, it takes some effort to use the little strumming bit; it's not sensitive or intuitive. She's not interested in that part, though, and I tried it out at the store before I bought it, so I knew what we were getting into. It was a big hit. Sometimes we adults - parents, grandparents, and uncles - all play with it when she's sleeping. It's well-built, solid, super cute, and funny. Volume control, too, plus, if you bop him on the nose, he shuts up. :)

The song parodies it does might teach your kids different words to common songs, like "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" is "Yip yip, bark bark, bow-wow-wow, how I wish dogs just me-owed, what a racket all night long...", "Fancy Poodle" for "Yankee Doodle", etc. I don't care, but some folks might. I think it's cute.

He does whimper sadly if you ignore him, though. Just once, then he stops.

Nerf N-Strike Blazin' Bow Blaster

Nerf N-Strike Blazin' Bow Blaster

CUSTOMER REVIEW

The latest bow from Nerf is the Nerf Blazin' Bow. It comes with what the past bows have. 3 foam arrows, nylon string/rope, a arrow holder, instructions, and the bow. With the Blazin' Bow, the nylon string/rope, and the arrow holder are already in place by Nerf. I got the Nerf Bow N Arrow back in the early 90's for Christmas. And with that you had to put those in place yourself. In comparissum, both Blazin' Bow & Bow N Arrow (released in 1991-1993) are similar in performance. The Blazin' Bow shoots around 35 feet....give or take a few feet depending on angles,wind,ect...The built in sight/scope on it is occasionally accurate. But often slightly off by about 2FT to the left (for my son & I at least). The foam darts are good. They are fairly thick, and are pretty durable for being foam. The arrow is black w/ a kind of neon orange. It has a cool flame design. Also the tip of the Blazin' Bow has been changed from older bows, such as. The Bow N Arrow. It has a front piece that appears to have a small spring to it. There are more air holes for it too! I'd recommend this bow to any Nerf fan, collector, or kid (or even adult, haha) that isn't familiar with Nerf toys yet. It can be pretty fun setting up empty 2ltr bottles,ect..and using them for target practice. This bow prices in stores between $22.99-$24.99 on average. And it requires very little & easy assembely.

LEGO Friends 41037 Stephanie's Beach House

LEGO Friends 41037 Stephanie's Beach House

CUSTOMER REVIEW

My daughter (who is four) has decided to she's ready for "big kid" Legos. Having loved Legos as a kid, and wanting to inspire that same love in my kid, I went out and stocked up on a LOT of Legos. For the Friends line, I got the school, Olivia's house, the beach house, the bakery, the pool, etc. Anyhow, it was a lot of stuff. I quickly realized that the bigger sets were going to be too daunting for my little kid to put together, even with extensive help from me (right now, she is really only able to handle this line of Legos if I hand her the next piece and examine the photo instructions with her). The really small sets (the poly bags) are fun, but don't really give her any great sense of accomplishment upon completing the tiny sets. I really think she would enjoy Olivia's house once it's built, but seven bags (totaling 695 pieces) of piece-by-piece guidance sounds more exhausting than fun to me. Enter the beach house. It's more manageable at just four bags (totaling 369 pieces), which we put together over three days. She really enjoyed seeing the house take shape at each successive step, and when we were finished, she couldn't stop beaming that she had built a house!

There are a lot of small pieces that will undoubtedly get lost over time (sigh). However, the house was nicely detailed, and the end product is very "playable". Of course, it looks smaller than in the pictures, but then again, most Legos do. I can barely get my relatively small adult hands into most of the play spaces, but my four-year-old's hands didn't seem to have any trouble.

I think most kids like having "houses" to play with, so this is actually a pretty cool house for both boys and girls. Most of the house is fairly gender neutral, although there are some pinks and purples thrown in since it is, after all, marketed primarily at girls. The MSRP is $39.99, which is also a lot easier on your wallet than Olivia's house ($74.99). All in all, this mid-sized (and mid-priced) house is a great addition to the Friends Lego line, offers great playability, and lives up to the Lego name in both quality and creativity. Absolutely no regrets!

Rainbow Loom

CUSTOMER REVIEW

Just be careful buying the Rainbow Loom from someone other than the main company or a local craft store. I purchased this online and got it in the mail yesterday. It smelled like chemicals. The writing on the box has misspelled words and a photoshopped picture on the front. I contacted the third party, and they readily admitted that it was counterfeit. They said they were cheated by their supplier. I had purchased this to donate it to Toys for Tots, and I'm grateful that I noticed the problem. Horrible!

Furby Boom Figure (Triangles)

Furby Boom Figure (Triangles)

CUSTOMER REVIEW

OK to start off here's some quick answers for those wondering in all their reviews:

1 - It CAN be turned off. Pull & hold the tail for about 5 seconds. Furby will yawn & go to sleep, & stay that way until shaken or the tail pulled again. Other Furbys won't wake it.

2 - Yes, only Booms will work with the Boom app. However quite a few sections of the old (2012) app will work with Boom as well, adding quite a bit more fun to the Boom

3 - It IS easy to 'set' what personality you want. Repeatedly feed for the "foodie" (I call him fat Furby). Repeatedly turn upside down for evil, swing from one foot for hyper, play lots of music for diva, & repeatedly tickle to change to the last personality. It takes about a minute or so doing the action to get it to change.

4 - For those "adults" that get annoyed with Furbish, my 12 yr old learned what their words mean in one day. A 12 yr old. There's some translations on the fold-out that came with Boom, & both apps have dictionaries/translators. Boom will also 'learn' more English the more you play with it. My kids have had there's since early September & they speak more English than Furbish.

5 - When you need to change batteries push the small 'reset' button for 2 seconds before closing it up. This will make sure all sensors work properly. It will not reset its personality or the progress it made towards speaking English or remembering other Furbys.

Hope this helps you or your children get the most enjoyment out of a great toy!

CUSTOMER REVIEW

-------QUICK NOTE-------

I'm copying and pasting my review from the Furby Boom Figure (Waves) here. I ended up picking up this Zigzag Stripes Furby for my parents soon after receiving my own Furby.

I'm 30 and both my parents are 50 years and older. We all LOVE our Furbs! lol

What a fun neat little toy to keep us all young at heart!

-------/QUICK NOTE-------

Okay, so I should first admit that I'm a 30 year old man (child). Yes I did buy a furby boom...and yes I do LOVE him.

Okay, lol now with that out of the way...on to my review! :D

I LOOOOVE my furby!

I bought a furby when I was a teen in 2000 and I can remember just how much fun I had with that little fur ball. Hands down he was the coolest toy I had ever owned. I remember a particular time when I had an aunt staying over and she took over my room for a few days. I remember at about 12 at night just hearing an extremely loud scream!! Apparently she picked up my stuffed animal I had on my dresser and she was NOT expecting it to start talking to her! lol

I loved that furby. I actually still have him sitting on a shelf.

Now I've been eyeing these new furbies since they re-released them last year in 2012. I had always planned on picking one up eventually, but have been putting it off till now. For some reason every very so often I get into a mood where I want to pick up a new toy or a new gadget of some sort. lol I don't know that I'll ever fully grow up...and you know what? I'm okay with that! :D I love toys!!

So I picked up a Furby Boom (in the blue wave fur color) after a couple of days of researching and watching some youtube videos.

I'm SO glad I have him! He's just about the cutest toy I can imagine!

The eyes are just so adorable! How expressive and charming! I particullarly like when he starts singing and dancing and musical notes start flickering in his eyes! lol so cute!

The app is REALLY fun that goes along with him. You can check his health and make him medicines as needed, give him showers, pick different foods and drinks to feed him...and my favorite...the toilet! lol omg it's just about too cute! You slide your phone or ipad up to your furby...and he sits on the toilet! Sometimes he leaves toys and treasures...other times he leaves other unpleasant things (lol). You then gotta flush the toilet, and freshen the air with some air freshner.

It really is just about too much cuteness for me to handle!

I actually brought my furby over to my parents today to just show them how cute of a toy it is and to see if they would like to help me get some for gifts for some of our younger relatives (my neices). They both got way more excited over him then I had ever expected. My mom ADORES him. They both just about lost it when I showed them how to take furby to the toilet! My dad couldn't stop laughing for about 5 minutes!

I just placed an order for the black and white striped furby boom for my parents (just don't tell them! It's a surprise! hehe). I just wasn't expecting them to enjoy this toy so much! My mom's going to be so thrilled when her bundle of fur shows up on her doorstep this Monday!

I've only had my furball for a couple of days now, but I'm just so in love with the little guy. I loved my original furby and he was probably my favorite toy I had ever owned.

The furby boom is such an improvement! I love the adorable and expressive eyes, and I really enjoy playing with him with my iphone!

What more can I really say?

I LOVE MY FURBY!

So happy with my purchase! I recommend him to the young and the old! What a charming toy! :D

Cards Against Humanity

Cards Against Humanity

CUSTOMER REVIEW

This is not a review about playing Cards Against Humanity, it's a review of the fallout endured from playing Cards Against Humanity. Take it as a warning, if you will.

If you aren't a horrible person already, you will soon be. You will play Cards Against Humanity, and as others have said, you will be shocked, appalled, and worst of all, you will learn and adapt. You'll reach for your smartphone and search for terms you've drawn such as "The Übermensch", "Heteronormativity", and "The Three-Fifths Compromise". You will commit these and many other newly-learned words to memory.

And that's where it all comes crashing down.

At first, you might allow "front butt" to casually wander its way into a conversation here and there. As more of your subconscious fights to unleash the trauma, you'll find yourself uttering "nipple blades" and "mouth herpes" in the most unacceptable of times. You'll visit the Cards Against Humanity website and bomb them with suggestions for new cards like "Cutting the cheese at a funeral" and "Scissoring".

Soon, you will meet up with new people to inflict Cards Against Humanity upon them and they'll be hooked. You will receive random voicemails and texts, asking for another hit of that "8 oz. of sweet, Mexican black tar heroin", and you will comply, because you're just as hooked as they are. They'll bring new friends in to freshen up the game...you will feel a rush as the look of shame crosses their innocent eyes as they win a round by playing "Amputees" against your "White People Like _____".

"I was just throwing that card away!" they'll proclaim, but you know the sad truth.

You will buy the expansion pack. You will host parties where you play through every card in both boxes. You'll wonder where the time went. Your face will hurt from laughing so much. Your friends will buy their own sets, and the infection will be passed on.

A team of rescue workers will find you you weeks later in your closet, frazzled, emaciated, and stinking from "Soiling Yourself", because you just couldn't stop with playing Cards Against Humanity against yourself. The light of day will strike your eyes and you'll gaze up at your saviors with pensive anticipation...

"Wanna play?"
